This year, on October 4th, it will be exactly 50 years since the first artificial satellite "Sputnik" was launched. Space technology has become a matter of a daily use in comparison with the time of the first experiments when the main objective was to launch the satellite on the orbit and keep communication with it. Even such common things like TV broadcasting and weather forecasting cannot be managed without satellites. Technology and materials developed for spacecraft and rockets are used in manufacturing things we use in our everyday life.
More than 28,000 satellites were launched on the orbit, many of them with human or animal crews. There are more than 453 astronauts now (May 27th, 2007), many of them took part in more flights so the total number of "man-flights" is 1,008. 12 people even stepped on the Moon surface. Space probes investigated all planets in our solar system and some of them are travelling to distant stars.
More than 130 models of rockets, probes, satellites, orbital stations and space shuttles will offer you a view into the rich fifty-year history of conquering the space. They include the first steps, great projects, scientific designs, man-crew flights, travel to the Moon. Successes, failures, even tragedies. Both successes of space powers and acts of countries without own rocket-carriers. You can see the past, present and future. All this you can see at the exhibition prepared to this anniversary.
Each model has its identification card showing basic data about its actual equipment including a brief technical description and information about the model.
The exhibition also includes pictures and text information
